Joy Garcia is true to her name. She believes that a positive attitude makes the most complex audit engagements more enjoyable. Joining the LvHJ team in 2019, Joy moved to the U.S. to continue her career in auditing that began in 2015 in the Philippines. She quickly advanced to audit supervisor in 2022 and then to an audit manager in 2024. Overseeing an audit team for a major affordable housing developer with dozens of annual audits, Joy is responsible for coordinating project workflow, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, and communicating with the client management team. With weekly meetings, review of audit binders, and open items management, Joy ensures deadlines and client expectations are managed accordingly. Through the year, Joy also works on cost certifications for affordable housing clients and oversees audits for not-for-profit organizations.
As a learner herself, Joy has deftly mentored and trained her team to advance their skills. She also facilitates audit team trainings. Joy previously worked for a major audit firm in the Philippines before joining LvHJ. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Accountancy from the University of the East in 2015.
In her free time, Joy listens to true crime podcasts and is compiling a library of fiction and non-fiction books that she hopes to read eventually. She enjoys listening to K-Pop music, especially BTS and IU, and she’s a big fan of escape rooms.
