LvHJ’s COVID-19 Update

March 20, 2020   |   Posted in: Individual Tax, Timely News

We hope you and your loved ones are well! It has been an unprecedented week for California. We are all learning how to adjust to our new circumstances; both professionally and personally.

In the wake of Governor Newsom’s Stay-at-Home order for California, we have had no choice but to further restrict our activities to stay in compliance. Our doors at both 301 Howard St and 111 Pine St will remain closed for an indefinite period and will only be accessed for critical purposes for the sake of business continuity.

For clients who have not yet submitted their tax documents, please submit your documents in electronic format instead of hard copy. Please email or call your firm contact should you not be familiar with the various methods of electronic submission we have available.

Our team will continue to work remotely to the fullest extent possible, while working within the confines of the new restrictions. We are available to you via phone, videoconference, and email.

Regarding tax deadlines – the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury and the California Franchise Tax Board have announced special tax relief for California taxpayers due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

All taxpayers, both individuals and businesses, are now granted an extended tax filing deadline to July 15, 2020 to file their 2019 Federal and California tax returns. This follows a previous announcement that the deadline to make federal tax payments had been extended to July 15, 2020.

To view COVID-19 tax filing and payment extensions for California, go to the FTB site here: https://www.ftb.ca.gov/about-ftb/newsroom/covid-19/extensions-to-file-pay.html

If the information you’ve submitted for preparing your tax returns is complete, we will strive to complete your returns as soon as possible. However, we will deliver the completed returns electronically instead of paper copies. Should you require paper copies of your tax returns, we will provide them to you shortly after Governor Newsom has lifted the Stay-at-Home order.

Please be assured that we have our clients’ best interests in mind and strive to provide you with the same level of excellent customer service you count on. We are working diligently to balance your very important needs, along with the health and safety of our team, their families, and our community. Continue to watch your email inbox for these updates, and we welcome any questions or concerns you have.

Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we all work together to make the best of a very tenuous situation for California and our nation. If there is any other way that we can be of service, please let us know.
